1 καὶ Βενιαμιν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βαλε πρωτότοκον αὐτοῦ καὶ Ασβηλ τὸν δεύτερον Ααρα τὸν τρίτον 2 Νωα τὸν τέταρτον καὶ Ραφη τὸν πέμπτον 3 καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ τῷ Βαλε Αδερ καὶ Γηρα καὶ Αβιουδ 4 καὶ Αβισουε καὶ Νοομα καὶ Αχια 5 καὶ Γηρα καὶ Σωφαρφακ καὶ Ωιμ 6 οὗτοι υἱοὶ Αωδ οὗτοί εἰσιν ἄρχοντες πατριῶν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν Γαβεε καὶ μετῴκισαν αὐτοὺς εἰς Μαναχαθι 7 καὶ Νοομα καὶ Αχια καὶ Γηρα οὗτος ιγλααμ καὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναανα καὶ τὸν Αχιχωδ 8 καὶ Σααρημ ἐγέννησεν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ Μωαβ μετὰ τὸ ἀποστεῖλαι αὐτὸν Ωσιμ καὶ τὴν Βααδα γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ 9 καὶ ἐγέννησεν ἐκ τῆς Αδα γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ τὸν Ιωβαβ καὶ τὸν Σεβια καὶ τὸν Μισα καὶ τὸν Μελχαμ 10 καὶ τὸν Ιαως καὶ τὸν Σαβια καὶ τὸν Μαρμα οὗτοι ἄρχοντες πατριῶν 11 καὶ ἐκ τῆς Ωσιμ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αβιτωβ καὶ τὸν Αλφααλ 12 καὶ υἱοὶ Αλφααλ Ωβηδ Μεσσααμ Σεμμηρ οὗτος ᾠκοδόμησεν τὴν Ωνω καὶ τὴν Λοδ καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς 13 καὶ Βεριγα καὶ Σαμα οὗτοι ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν Αιλαμ καὶ οὗτοι ἐξεδίωξαν τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Γεθ 14 καὶ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ Σωσηκ καὶ Ιαριμωθ 15 καὶ Ζαβαδια καὶ Ωρηρ καὶ Ωδηδ 16 καὶ Μιχαηλ καὶ Ιεσφα καὶ Ιωχα υἱοὶ Βαριγα 17 καὶ Ζαβαδια καὶ Μοσολλαμ καὶ Αζακι καὶ Αβαρ 18 καὶ Ισαμαρι καὶ Ιεζλια καὶ Ιωβαβ υἱοὶ Ελφααλ 19 καὶ Ιακιμ καὶ Ζεχρι καὶ Ζαβδι 20 καὶ Ελιωηναι καὶ Σαλθι καὶ Ελιηλι 21 καὶ Αδαια καὶ Βαραια καὶ Σαμαραθ υἱοὶ Σαμαϊ 22 καὶ Ισφαν καὶ Ωβηδ καὶ Ελεηλ 23 καὶ Αβαδων καὶ Ζεχρι καὶ Αναν 24 καὶ Ανανια καὶ Αμβρι καὶ Αιλαμ καὶ Αναθωθια 25 καὶ Αθιν καὶ Ιεφερια καὶ Φελιηλ υἱοὶ Σωσηκ 26 καὶ Σαμσαρια καὶ Σααρια καὶ Ογοθολια 27 καὶ Ιαρασια καὶ Ηλια καὶ Ζεχρι υἱοὶ Ιρααμ 28 οὗτοι ἄρχοντες πατριῶν κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν ἄρχοντες οὗτοι κατῴκησαν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ 29 καὶ ἐν Γαβαων κατῴκησεν πατὴρ Γαβαων καὶ ὄνομα γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ Μααχα 30 καὶ υἱὸς αὐτῆς ὁ πρωτότοκος Αβαδων καὶ Σουρ καὶ Κις καὶ Βααλ καὶ Νηρ καὶ Ναδαβ 31 καὶ Γεδουρ καὶ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ Ζαχουρ καὶ Μακαλωθ 32 καὶ Μακαλωθ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σεμαα καὶ γὰρ οὗτοι κατέναντι τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν κατῴκησαν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ μετὰ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν | 1 Benjamin’s first-born was called Bale; his other sons were Asbel, Ahara, 2 Nohaa and Rapha. 3 From Bale came Addar, Gera, Abiud, 4 Abisue, Naaman, Ahoe, 5 Gera, Sephuphan and Huram. 6 These are the sons of Ahod, chiefs of clans in Gabaa, that were removed to Manahath … 7 (and Naaman and Achia and Gera;) he it was who removed them, and was afterwards the father of Oza and Ahiud. 8 Saharaim, too, after he had put away his wives, Husim and Bara, begot sons in the land of Moab; 9 his wife Hodes bore him Jobab, Sebia, Mosa, Molchom, 10 Jehus, Sechia and Marma; all these children of his were clan chieftains. 11 Ahitob and Elphaal were his sons by Husim; 12 and Elphaal’s sons were Heber, and Misaam, and Samad that founded Ono and Lod with their dependent villages.[1] 13 The men who dwelt in Aialon, whence they had dislodged the Gethites, had Baria and Sama for their chieftains. 14 Ahio, Sesac, Jerimoth, 15 Zabadia, Arod, Heder, 16 Michael, Jespha and Joha all came down from Baria. 17 Zabadia, Mosollam, Hezeci, Heber, 18 Jesamari, Jezlia and Jobab were descended from Elphaal. 19 Jacim, Zechri, Zabdi, 20 Elioenai, Selethai, Eliel, 21 Adaia, Baraia and Samarath were descended from Semei.[2] 22 Jespham, Heber, Eliel, 23 Abdon, Zechri, Hanan, 24 Hanania, Aelam, Anathothia, 25 Jephdaia and Phanuel were descended from Sesac …. 26 Samsari, Sohoria, Otholia, 27 Jersia, Elia and Zechri were descended from Jeroham. 28 All these were fathers of clans and chieftains, with their home at Jerusalem.[3] 29 Gabaon was the dwelling-place of Abigabaon, whose wife was called Maacha, 30 and his eldest son Abdon. All these were Asel’s sons; 39 his brother, Esec, begot Ulam, Jehus, and Eliphalet. 40 The sons of Ulam were great warriors, with strong arms to bend the bow; and their sons and grandsons multiplied till there were a hundred and fifty of them. [1] The sense of verses 6-13 is by no means certain; the first three names in verse 7 may have been copied by error from verses 4 and 5 above. In verse 11, the Latin represents the words ‘by Husim’ as a single word, ‘Mehusim’.
[2] Semei should probably be identified with the Sama of verse 13.
[3] It is difficult to believe that all these clan chiefs resided in the city of Jerusalem; perhaps we should understand, here and in verse 32, that the Benjamites remained politically attached to Juda, when the kingdom was divided.
