1 καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων 2 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου στήρισον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπὶ Γωγ καὶ τὴν γῆν τοῦ Μαγωγ ἄρχοντα Ρως Μοσοχ καὶ Θοβελ καὶ προφήτευσον ἐ{P'} αὐτὸν 3 καὶ εἰπὸν αὐτῷ τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπὶ σὲ Γωγ ἄρχοντα Ρως Μοσοχ καὶ Θοβελ 4 καὶ συνάξω σε καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν δύναμίν σου ἵππους καὶ ἱππεῖς ἐνδεδυμένους θώρακας πάντας συναγωγὴ πολλή πέλται καὶ περικεφαλαῖαι καὶ μάχαιραι 5 Πέρσαι καὶ Αἰθίοπες καὶ Λίβυες πάντες περικεφαλαίαις καὶ πέλταις 6 Γομερ καὶ πάντες οἱ περὶ αὐτόν οἶκος τοῦ Θεργαμα ἀ{P'} ἐσχάτου βορρᾶ καὶ πάντες οἱ περὶ αὐτόν καὶ ἔθνη πολλὰ μετὰ σοῦ 7 ἑτοιμάσθητι ἑτοίμασον σεαυτὸν σὺ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή σου οἱ συνηγμένοι μετὰ σοῦ καὶ ἔσῃ μοι εἰς προφυλακήν 1 Word came to me from the Lord: 2 Son of man, turn thy regard now towards Gog, Magog’s country, that has the lordship of Mosoch and Thubal, and prophesy its doom.[1] 3 This be thy message to it from the Lord God: Have at thee, Gog, that hast the lordship of Mosoch and Thubal! 4 Trust me, I will turn thee about this way and that, bridle those jaws of thine! I will bring thee out to battle, with all thy army; with horses and mailed cavalry, with a great company that ply spear and shield and sword. 5 Persians shall be there, and Ethiopians, and Libyans, all with shield and helmet, 6 Gomer with his hordes, the men of Thogorma from the northern fastnesses, mustered in full strength; what an array thou hast about thee! 7 Now hold thyself in readiness, marshal thy own strength and the hordes that follow thee; thine is the leadership.

4
Et circumagam te, et ponam frenum in maxillis tuis:
et educam te, et omnem exercitum tuum,
equos et equites vestitos loricis universos,
multitudinem magnam, hastam et clypeum arripientium et gladium.
5
Persæ, Æthiopes, et Libyes cum eis,
omnes scutati et galeati.
6
Gomer et universa agmina ejus,
domus Thogorma, latera aquilonis,
et totum robur ejus, populique multi tecum.
7
Præpara et instrue te,
et omnem multitudinem tuam quæ coacervata est ad te:
et esto eis in præceptum.
8 ἀ{F'} ἡμερῶν πλειόνων ἑτοιμασθήσεται καὶ ἐ{P'} ἐσχάτου ἐτῶν ἐλεύσεται καὶ ἥξει εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀπεστραμμένην ἀπὸ μαχαίρας συνηγμένων ἀπὸ ἐθνῶν πολλῶν ἐπὶ γῆν Ισραηλ ἣ ἐγενήθη ἔρημος δ{I'} ὅλου καὶ οὗτος ἐξ ἐθνῶν ἐξελήλυθεν καὶ κατοικήσουσιν ἐ{P'} εἰρήνης ἅπαντες 9 καὶ ἀναβήσῃ ὡς ὑετὸς καὶ ἥξεις ὡς νεφέλη κατακαλύψαι γῆν καὶ ἔσῃ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ περὶ σὲ καὶ ἔθνη πολλὰ μετὰ σοῦ 10 τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἀναβήσεται ῥήματα ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν σου καὶ λογιῇ λογισμοὺς πονηροὺς 11 καὶ ἐρεῖς ἀναβήσομαι ἐπὶ γῆν ἀπερριμμένην ἥξω ἐπὶ ἡσυχάζοντας ἐν ἡσυχίᾳ καὶ οἰκοῦντας ἐ{P'} εἰρήνης πάντας κατοικοῦντας γῆν ἐν ᾗ οὐχ ὑπάρχει τεῖχος οὐδὲ μοχλοί καὶ θύραι οὐκ εἰσὶν αὐτοῖς 12 προνομεῦσαι προνομὴν καὶ σκυλεῦσαι σκῦλα αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι χεῖρά σου εἰς τὴν ἠρημωμένην ἣ κατῳκίσθη καὶ ἐ{P'} ἔθνος συνηγμένον ἀπὸ ἐθνῶν πολλῶν πεποιηκότας κτήσεις κατοικοῦντας ἐπὶ τὸν ὀμφαλὸν τῆς γῆς 13 Σαβα καὶ Δαιδαν καὶ ἔμποροι Καρχηδόνιοι καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν ἐροῦσίν σοι εἰς προνομὴν τοῦ προνομεῦσαι σὺ ἔρχῃ καὶ σκυλεῦσαι σκῦλα συνήγαγες συναγωγήν σου λαβεῖν ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον ἀπενέγκασθαι κτῆσιν τοῦ σκυλεῦσαι σκῦλα 8 Long hence thy turn shall come; long years must pass before thou dost march on Israel; a land, now, recovered from its blood-letting; its hills, desolate till now, are repeopled with exiles from many shores, come back to dwell there in security. 9 Storm never rose so suddenly, cloud-wrack never darkened it so fearsomely, as thou with that host of thine, those confederate hordes. 10 What thoughts will be in thy heart that day, the Lord God says, what foul design will be a-brewing? 11 Why, thou wilt think to march on a land unfortified, a people dwelling free from all alarms, that walls about them have none, bolt nor bar to shut them in; 12 spoil for thy spoiling, plunder for thy plundering. Easily enough they are like to fall into thy hand, the ruins so lately rebuilt; the men restored from exile, that hold but the heart of the country,[2] and are already enriched! 13 Small wonder if the traders of Saba, Dedan and Tharsis, ravenous lions all, would know whether it is plunder thy heart is set on? Such a muster of men, it can but mean spoil; silver and gold to rifle, stock and stuff to carry away, ay, there is spoil behind this, and spoil worth the taking! 8
Post dies multos visitaberis:
in novissimo annorum venies ad terram quæ reversa est a gladio,
et congregata est de populis multis ad montes Israël,
qui fuerunt deserti jugiter:
hæc de populis educta est,
et habitabunt in ea confidenter universi.
9
Ascendens autem quasi tempestas venies,
et quasi nubes, ut operias terram:
tu et omnia agmina tua,
et populi multi tecum.
10

Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:
In die illa, ascendent sermones super cor tuum,
et cogitabis cogitationem pessimam:
11
et dices: Ascendam ad terram absque muro:
veniam ad quiescentes habitantesque secure:
hi omnes habitant sine muro;
vectes et portæ non sunt eis:
12
ut diripias spolia, et invadas prædam;
ut inferas manum tuam super eos qui deserti fuerant, et postea restituti,
et super populum qui est congregatus ex gentibus,
qui possidere cœpit et esse habitator umbilici terræ.
13
Saba, et Dedan, et negotiatores Tharsis,
et omnes leones ejus, dicent tibi:
Numquid ad sumenda spolia tu venis?
ecce ad diripiendam prædam congregasti multitudinem tuam,
ut tollas argentum et aurum,
et auferas supellectilem atque substantiam,
et diripias manubias infinitas.
14 διὰ τοῦτο προφήτευσον υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου καὶ εἰπὸν τῷ Γωγ τάδε λέγει κύριος οὐκ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐν τῷ κατοικισθῆναι τὸν λαόν μου Ισραηλ ἐ{P'} εἰρήνης ἐγερθήσῃ 15 καὶ ἥξεις ἐκ τοῦ τόπου σου ἀ{P'} ἐσχάτου βορρᾶ καὶ ἔθνη πολλὰ μετὰ σοῦ ἀναβάται ἵππων πάντες συναγωγὴ μεγάλη καὶ δύναμις πολλή 16 καὶ ἀναβήσῃ ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ισραηλ ὡς νεφέλη καλύψαι γῆν ἐ{P'} ἐσχάτων τῶν ἡμερῶν ἔσται καὶ ἀνάξω σε ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν μου ἵνα γνῶσιν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐμὲ ἐν τῷ ἁγιασθῆναί με ἐν σοὶ ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν 17 τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος τῷ Γωγ σὺ εἶ περὶ οὗ ἐλάλησα πρὸ ἡμερῶν τῶν ἔμπροσθεν διὰ χειρὸς τῶν δούλων μου προφητῶν τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις καὶ ἔτεσιν τοῦ ἀγαγεῖν σε ἐ{P'} αὐτούς 14 Prophesy, then, son of man, and make known to Gog this divine message: None better ware of it than thou, when my people of Israel is living at peace, free from alarms! 15 Then it is thou wilt come down from those northern fastnesses, with thy hordes about thee, thy troops of cavalry, a great muster, an army irresistible, 16 sweeping down on my people of Israel like a cloud that overshadows the land. Offspring of that later age, thou shalt march on yonder land of mine, so that in Gog’s doom my power may be vindicated, and the heathen may learn what I am. 17 Long years ago, the Lord God says, there were servants of mine that foresaw my will concerning thee, and even then warned Israel, in my name, of thy coming. 14
ascensores equorum universi:
cœtus magnus, et exercitus vehemens.
16
Et ascendes super populum meum Israël
quasi nubes, ut operias terram.
In novissimis diebus eris,
et adducam te super terram meam:
ut sciant gentes me
cum sanctificatus fuero in te in oculis eorum, o Gog!
17

Hæc dicit Dominus Deus:
Tu ergo ille es, de quo locutus sum in diebus antiquis
in manu servorum meorum prophetarum Israël,
qui prophetaverunt in diebus illorum temporum,
ut adducerem te super eos.
18 καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἂν ἔλθῃ Γωγ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν τοῦ Ισραηλ λέγει κύριος κύριος ἀναβήσεται ὁ θυμός μου 19 καὶ ὁ ζῆλός μου ἐν πυρὶ τῆς ὀργῆς μου ἐλάλησα εἰ μὴν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἔσται σεισμὸς μέγας ἐπὶ γῆς Ισραηλ 20 καὶ σεισθήσονται ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου οἱ ἰχθύες τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τὰ θηρία τοῦ πεδίου καὶ πάντα τὰ ἑρπετὰ τὰ ἕρποντα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄνθρωποι οἱ ἐπὶ προσώπου τῆς γῆς καὶ ῥαγήσεται τὰ ὄρη καὶ πεσοῦνται αἱ φάραγγες καὶ πᾶν τεῖχος ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν πεσεῖται 21 καὶ καλέσω ἐ{P'} αὐτὸν πᾶν φόβον λέγει κύριος μάχαιρα ἀνθρώπου ἐπὶ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ ἔσται 22 καὶ κρινῶ αὐτὸν θανάτῳ καὶ αἵματι καὶ ὑετῷ κατακλύζοντι καὶ λίθοις χαλάζης καὶ πῦρ καὶ θεῖον βρέξω ἐ{P'} αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς με{T'} αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐ{P'} ἔθνη πολλὰ με{T'} αὐτοῦ 23 καὶ μεγαλυνθήσομαι καὶ ἁγιασθήσομαι καὶ ἐνδοξασθήσομαι καὶ γνωσθήσομαι ἐναντίον ἐθνῶν πολλῶν καὶ γνώσονται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος 18 When Gog marches against Israel, the Lord God says, my indignation will contain itself no longer; 19 jealous love and fierce anger of mine, I swear it, shall throw all the land of Israel into commotion. 20 Fish in sea, bird in air, beast on earth and all the creeping things of earth shall tremble at my presence, and the world of men, too, shall tremble; mountains be overthrown, defences totter, walls come toppling to the ground. 21 All through this hill-country of mine my word shall run, The sword! And with that, the Lord says, friend shall turn his sword against friend; 22 ordeal they shall have of pestilence and of blood-letting, of lashing storm and great hail-stones; fire and brimstone I will rain down upon them, all that great army and the hordes that follow with it. 23 My greatness, my holiness, shall then be displayed for a world of nations to see, and they will recognize my power at last. 18
Et erit in die illa,
in die adventus Gog super terram Israël,
ait Dominus Deus,
ascendet indignatio mea in furore meo.
19
Et in zelo meo, in igne iræ meæ locutus sum,
quia in die illa erit commotio magna super terram Israël:
20
et commovebuntur a facie mea pisces maris,
et volucres cæli, et bestiæ agri,
et omne reptile quod movetur super humum,
cunctique homines qui sunt super faciem terræ:
et subvertentur montes, et cadent sepes,
et omnis murus corruet in terram.
21
Et convocabo adversus eum in cunctis montibus meis gladium,
ait Dominus Deus:
gladius uniuscujusque in fratrem suum dirigetur.
22
Et judicabo eum peste, et sanguine,
et imbre vehementi, et lapidibus immensis:
ignem et sulphur pluam super eum,
et super exercitum ejus,
et super populos multos qui sunt cum eo.
23
Et magnificabor, et sanctificabor,
et notus ero in oculis multarum gentium:
et scient quia ego Dominus.
