1 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων 2 εἰπὸν Ααρων καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ προσεχέτωσαν ἀπὸ τῶν ἁγίων τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ οὐ βεβηλώσουσιν τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιόν μου ὅσα αὐτοὶ ἁγιάζουσίν μοι ἐγὼ κύριος 3 εἰπὸν αὐτοῖς εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν πᾶς ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἂν προσέλθῃ ἀπὸ παντὸς τοῦ σπέρματος ὑμῶν πρὸς τὰ ἅγια ὅσα ἂν ἁγιάζωσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ ἡ ἀκαθαρσία αὐτοῦ ἐ{P'} αὐτῷ ἐξολεθρευθήσεται ἡ ψυχὴ ἐκείνη ἀ{P'} ἐμοῦ ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν 4 καὶ ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος Ααρων τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ οὗτος λεπρᾷ ἢ γονορρυής τῶν ἁγίων οὐκ ἔδεται ἕως ἂν καθαρισθῇ καὶ ὁ ἁπτόμενος πάσης ἀκαθαρσίας ψυχῆς ἢ ἄνθρωπος ᾧ ἂν ἐξέλθῃ ἐξ αὐτοῦ κοίτη σπέρματος 5 ἢ ὅστις ἂν ἅψηται παντὸς ἑρπετοῦ ἀκαθάρτου ὃ μιανεῖ αὐτόν ἢ ἐ{P'} ἀνθρώπῳ ἐν ᾧ μιανεῖ αὐτὸν κατὰ πᾶσαν ἀκαθαρσίαν αὐτοῦ 6 ψυχή ἥτις ἂν ἅψηται αὐτῶν ἀκάθαρτος ἔσται ἕως ἑσπέρας οὐκ ἔδεται ἀπὸ τῶν ἁγίων ἐὰν μὴ λούσηται τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ ὕδατι 7 καὶ δύῃ ὁ ἥλιος καὶ καθαρὸς ἔσται καὶ τότε φάγεται τῶν ἁγίων ὅτι ἄρτος ἐστὶν αὐτοῦ 8 θνησιμαῖον καὶ θηριάλωτον οὐ φάγεται μιανθῆναι αὐτὸν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐγὼ κύριος 9 καὶ φυλάξονται τὰ φυλάγματά μου ἵνα μὴ λάβωσιν δ{I'} αὐτὰ ἁμαρτίαν καὶ ἀποθάνωσιν δ{I'} αὐτά ἐὰν βεβηλώσωσιν αὐτά ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ ἁγιάζων αὐτούς | 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses 2 giving him this command for Aaron and his sons: They must beware what use they make of the offerings brought by Israel; they must not profane the honour of these consecrated things; of things consecrated to the Lord. 3 Tell them, tell all who follow, that if any of their race comes near these sacred offerings in a state of defilement, he is lost to my service; the service of the Lord. 4 Any of Aaron’s race who is a leper, or has a running at the reins, must cease to have any share of the hallowed food, until he is cured. Anyone of them who has touched a thing defiled by death, or has lost the seed of procreation, 5 or perhaps has touched some creeping animal, or anything whose touch defiles, 6 remains unclean till sundown, so that he must not share the holy food. Not till he has bathed in water, 7 and waited for the sun to go down, may he enjoy his privilege of sharing in it. 8 The priests must not defile themselves by eating anything that falls dead, or has been a prey of a wild beast; they are the Lord’s priests. 9 They must observe my commands, and commit no fault; death shall overtake them, there in my sanctuary, if they profane it. It is I, the Lord, who have set them apart. |
10 καὶ πᾶς ἀλλογενὴς οὐ φάγεται ἅγια πάροικος ἱερέως ἢ μισθωτὸς οὐ φάγεται ἅγια 11 ἐὰν δὲ ἱερεὺς κτήσηται ψυχὴν ἔγκτητον ἀργυρίου οὗτος φάγεται ἐκ τῶν ἄρτων αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ οἰκογενεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ οὗτοι φάγονται τῶν ἄρτων αὐτοῦ 12 καὶ θυγάτηρ ἀνθρώπου ἱερέως ἐὰν γένηται ἀνδρὶ ἀλλογενεῖ αὐτὴ τῶν ἀπαρχῶν τῶν ἁγίων οὐ φάγεται 13 καὶ θυγάτηρ ἱερέως ἐὰν γένηται χήρα ἢ ἐκβεβλημένη σπέρμα δὲ μὴ ἦν αὐτῇ ἐπαναστρέψει ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τὸν πατρικὸν κατὰ τὴν νεότητα αὐτῆς ἀπὸ τῶν ἄρτων τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς φάγεται καὶ πᾶς ἀλλογενὴς οὐ φάγεται ἀ{P'} αὐτῶν 14 καὶ ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἂν φάγῃ ἅγια κατὰ ἄγνοιαν καὶ προσθήσει τὸ ἐπίπεμπτον αὐτοῦ ἐ{P'} αὐτὸ καὶ δώσει τῷ ἱερεῖ τὸ ἅγιον 15 καὶ οὐ βεβηλώσουσιν τὰ ἅγια τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἃ αὐτοὶ ἀφαιροῦσιν τῷ κυρίῳ 16 καὶ ἐπάξουσιν ἐ{F'} ἑαυτοὺς ἀνομίαν πλημμελείας ἐν τῷ ἐσθίειν αὐτοὺς τὰ ἅγια αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ ἁγιάζων αὐτούς | 10 No one that is not of their family may share the holy food, no guest the priest entertains, no hired servant of his; 11 only a slave bought with his money or born in his house has the privilege. 12 If a priest’s daughter marries out of her clan, she loses her right to these hallowed offerings; 13 but if she becomes a widow, or is rejected by her husband and comes home childless, she may eat with her family as when she was still a maid. It is only those who belong to another clan that may not share it. 14 If anyone partakes of the holy food through inadvertence, he must go to the sanctuary and make restitution to the priest of the same quantity, with a fifth part added. 15 There must be no profaning what the sons of Israel have offered to their God; 16 they will be held to account for it, if they eat this holy food. It is I, the Lord, who have set my priests apart. |
17 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων 18 λάλησον Ααρων καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάσῃ συναγωγῇ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἢ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν προσηλύτων τῶν προσκειμένων πρὸς αὐτοὺς ἐν Ισραηλ ὃς ἂν προσενέγκῃ τὰ δῶρα αὐτοῦ κατὰ πᾶσαν ὁμολογίαν αὐτῶν ἢ κατὰ πᾶσαν αἵρεσιν αὐτῶν ὅσα ἂν προσενέγκωσιν τῷ θεῷ εἰς ὁλοκαύτωμα 19 δεκτὰ ὑμῖν ἄμωμα ἄρσενα ἐκ τῶν βουκολίων καὶ ἐκ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἐκ τῶν αἰγῶν 20 πάντα ὅσα ἂν ἔχῃ μῶμον ἐν αὐτῷ οὐ προσάξουσιν κυρίῳ διότι οὐ δεκτὸν ἔσται ὑμῖν 21 καὶ ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἂν προσενέγκῃ θυσίαν σωτηρίου τῷ κυρίῳ διαστείλας εὐχὴν κατὰ αἵρεσιν ἢ ἐν ταῖς ἑορταῖς ὑμῶν ἐκ τῶν βουκολίων ἢ ἐκ τῶν προβάτων ἄμωμον ἔσται εἰς δεκτόν πᾶς μῶμος οὐκ ἔσται ἐν αὐτῷ 22 τυφλὸν ἢ συντετριμμένον ἢ γλωσσότμητον ἢ μυρμηκιῶντα ἢ ψωραγριῶντα ἢ λιχῆνας ἔχοντα οὐ προσάξουσιν ταῦτα τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ εἰς κάρπωσιν οὐ δώσετε ἀ{P'} αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τῷ κυρίῳ 23 καὶ μόσχον ἢ πρόβατον ὠτότμητον ἢ κολοβόκερκον σφάγια ποιήσεις αὐτὰ σεαυτῷ εἰς δὲ εὐχήν σου οὐ δεχθήσεται 24 θλαδίαν καὶ ἐκτεθλιμμένον καὶ ἐκτομίαν καὶ ἀπεσπασμένον οὐ προσάξεις αὐτὰ τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ὑμῶν οὐ ποιήσετε 25 καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς ἀλλογενοῦς οὐ προσοίσετε τὰ δῶρα τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν ἀπὸ πάντων τούτων ὅτι φθάρματά ἐστιν ἐν αὐτοῖς μῶμος ἐν αὐτοῖς οὐ δεχθήσεται ταῦτα ὑμῖν | 17 And the Lord spoke to Moses 18 bidding him tell Aaron and his sons and all Israel: When any Israelite, or any alien dwelling among you, would offer the Lord burnt-sacrifice, either in payment of a vow, or out of devotion, 19 and must present it through your hands, it must be a male victim, ox or sheep or goat, without blemish. 20 If it has any blemish, it is unacceptable, and must not be offered. 21 And anyone who makes the Lord a welcome-offering, either in payment of a vow or out of devotion, must offer an ox or a sheep that is without blemish, if it is to be acceptable. It must have no blemish of any sort; 22 if it is blind, or crippled, or scarred, disfigured by blisters or scab or mange, you must not offer it to the Lord, or burn it on the Lord’s altar. 23 Ox or sheep that has ears or tail cut off may be offered out of devotion, but not in payment of a vow.[1] 24 No beast that has suffered crushing or bruising or gelding may be offered to the Lord; there must be no such custom in your country. 25 You must not offer to your God either bread or any other gift that comes from an alien;[2] such gifts are tainted, there is a blemish in them, they shall find no acceptance with you. |
26 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων 27 μόσχον ἢ πρόβατον ἢ αἶγα ὡς ἂν τεχθῇ καὶ ἔσται ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ὑπὸ τὴν μητέρα τῇ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ὀγδόῃ καὶ ἐπέκεινα δεχθήσεται εἰς δῶρα κάρπωμα κυρίῳ 28 καὶ μόσχον ἢ πρόβατον αὐτὴν καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτῆς οὐ σφάξεις ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ 29 ἐὰν δὲ θύσῃς θυσίαν εὐχὴν χαρμοσύνης κυρίῳ εἰς δεκτὸν ὑμῖν θύσετε αὐτό 30 αὐτῇ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ βρωθήσεται οὐκ ἀπολείψετε ἀπὸ τῶν κρεῶν εἰς τὸ πρωί ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος 31 καὶ φυλάξετε τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτάς 32 καὶ οὐ βεβηλώσετε τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ ἁγίου καὶ ἁγιασθήσομαι ἐν μέσῳ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ ἁγιάζων ὑμᾶς 33 ὁ ἐξαγαγὼν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ὥστε εἶναι ὑμῶν θεός ἐγὼ κύριος | 26 And the Lord gave Moses this message: 27 Calf, or lamb, or kid, when it is newly born, must be allowed to suck for a whole week; only on the eighth day and afterwards may it be offered to the Lord. 28 Cow or ewe, the dam must not be slaughtered on the same day as its young. 29 When you sacrifice a victim to the Lord by way of welcome-offering, to win his favour, 30 you must eat it the same day, none must be left over till the morrow; the Lord will have his precepts observed. 31 Remember these commandments of mine, and live by them; the Lord’s commandments. 32 Do not dishonour my holy name; it is among the sons of Israel that I would vindicate my holiness, I, the Lord, who have set you apart for myself, 33 and rescued you from the land of Egypt, so as to be your God; am I not the Lord? Ego Dominus. |
[1] ‘Has ears or tail cut off’; the Hebrew text probably signifies, ‘has an over-developed or an under-developed limb’.
[2] That is, one resident abroad (see verse 18 above). The meaning of the Hebrew text appears to be, ‘If any alien offers one of the things mentioned as bread (i.e. food) for the Lord’; it is not clear whether the sense is that an alien must not (any more than an Israelite) offer any victim which has a blemish, or that no alien may offer ox, sheep, or goat in sacrifice.
