(Of David.) In finem. Psalmus David.
1 ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυιδ πρὸς σέ κύριε ἦρα τὴν ψυχήν μου ὁ θεός μου 2 ἐπὶ σοὶ πέποιθα μὴ καταισχυνθείην μηδὲ καταγελασάτωσάν μου οἱ ἐχθροί μου 3 καὶ γὰρ πάντες οἱ ὑπομένοντές σε οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῶσιν αἰσχυνθήτωσαν πάντες οἱ ἀνομοῦντες διὰ κενῆς 4 τὰς ὁδούς σου κύριε γνώρισόν μοι καὶ τὰς τρίβους σου δίδαξόν με 5 ὁδήγησόν με ἐπὶ τὴν ἀλήθειάν σου καὶ δίδαξόν με ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ θεὸς ὁ σωτήρ μου καὶ σὲ ὑπέμεινα ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν 6 μνήσθητι τῶν οἰκτιρμῶν σου κύριε καὶ τὰ ἐλέη σου ὅτι ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνός εἰσιν 7 ἁμαρτίας νεότητός μου καὶ ἀγνοίας μου μὴ μνησθῇς κατὰ τὸ ἔλεός σου μνήσθητί μου σὺ ἕνεκα τῆς χρηστότητός σου κύριε 8 χρηστὸς καὶ εὐθὴς ὁ κύριος διὰ τοῦτο νομοθετήσει ἁμαρτάνοντας ἐν ὁδῷ 9 ὁδηγήσει πραεῖς ἐν κρίσει διδάξει πραεῖς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ 10 πᾶσαι αἱ ὁδοὶ κυρίου ἔλεος καὶ ἀλήθεια τοῖς ἐκζητοῦσιν τὴν διαθήκην αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ μαρτύρια αὐτοῦ 11 ἕνεκα τοῦ ὀνόματός σου κύριε καὶ ἱλάσῃ τῇ ἁμαρτίᾳ μου πολλὴ γάρ ἐστιν 1 All my heart goes out to thee, O Lord my God. 2 Belie not the trust I have in thee, let not my enemies boast of my downfall. 3 Can any that trust in thee be disappointed, as they are disappointed who lightly break their troth? 4 Direct my way, Lord, as thou wilt, teach me thy own paths. 5 Ever let thy truth guide and teach me, O God my deliverer, my abiding hope. 6 Forget not, Lord, thy pity, thy mercies of long ago. 7 Give heed no more to the sins and frailties of my youth, but think mercifully of me, as thou, Lord, art ever gracious. 8 How gracious is the Lord, how faithful, guiding our strayed feet back to the path! 9 In his own laws he will train the humble, in his own paths the humble he will guide. 10 Jealous be thy keeping of covenant and ordinance, and the Lord’s dealings will be ever gracious, ever faithful with thee. 11 Kindly be thy judgement of my sin, for thy own honour’s sake, my grievous sin. 1 Ad te, Domine, levavi animam meam: 2
Deus meus, in te confido; non erubescam.
3
Neque irrideant me inimici mei:
etenim universi qui sustinent te, non confundentur.
4
Confundantur omnes iniqua agentes supervacue.
Vias tuas, Domine, demonstra mihi,
et semitas tuas edoce me.
5
Dirige me in veritate tua, et doce me,
quia tu es Deus salvator meus,
et te sustinui tota die.
6
Reminiscere miserationum tuarum, Domine,
et misericordiarum tuarum quæ a sæculo sunt.
7
Delicta juventutis meæ, et ignorantias meas, ne memineris.
Secundum misericordiam tuam memento mei tu,
propter bonitatem tuam, Domine.
8
Dulcis et rectus Dominus;
propter hoc legem dabit delinquentibus in via.
9
Diriget mansuetos in judicio;
docebit mites vias suas.
10
Universæ viæ Domini, misericordia et veritas,
requirentibus testamentum ejus et testimonia ejus.
11
Propter nomen tuum, Domine,
propitiaberis peccato meo; multum est enim.
13 Much joy he shall have of his lands and to his heirs leave them. 14 No stranger the Lord is, no secret his covenant, to his true worshippers. 15 On the Lord I fix my eyes continually, trusting him to save my feet from the snare. 16 Pity me, Lord, as thou seest me friendless and forlorn. 17 Quit my heart of its burden, deliver me from my distress. 18 Restless and forlorn, I claim thy pity, to my sins be merciful. 19 See how many are my foes, and how bitter is the grudge they bear me. 20 Take my soul into thy keeping; come to my rescue, do not let me be disappointed of my trust in thee. 21 Uprightness and purity be my shield, as I wait patiently, Lord, for thy help. 22 When wilt thou deliver Israel, my God, from all his troubles? 12
Quis est homo qui timet Dominum?
legem statuit ei in via quam elegit.
13
Anima ejus in bonis demorabitur,
et semen ejus hæreditabit terram.
14
Firmamentum est Dominus timentibus eum;
et testamentum ipsius ut manifestetur illis.
15
Oculi mei semper ad Dominum,
quoniam ipse evellet de laqueo pedes meos.
16
Respice in me, et miserere mei,
quia unicus et pauper sum ego.
17
Tribulationes cordis mei multiplicatæ sunt:
de necessitatibus meis erue me.
18
Vide humilitatem meam et laborem meum,
et dimitte universa delicta mea.
19
Respice inimicos meos, quoniam multiplicati sunt,
et odio iniquo oderunt me.
20
Custodi animam meam, et erue me:
non erubescam, quoniam speravi in te.
21
Innocentes et recti adhæserunt mihi,
quia sustinui te.
22
Libera, Deus, Israël
ex omnibus tribulationibus suis.
