1 εἰς τὸ τέλος ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυιδ 1 (To the choir-master. A psalm. Of David.) 1 In finem. Psalmus ipsi David.
2 μακάριος ὁ συνίων ἐπὶ πτωχὸν καὶ πένητα ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πονηρᾷ ῥύσεται αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος 3 κύριος διαφυλάξαι αὐτὸν καὶ ζήσαι αὐτὸν καὶ μακαρίσαι αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ γῇ καὶ μὴ παραδῴη αὐτὸν εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθροῦ αὐτοῦ 4 κύριος βοηθήσαι αὐτῷ ἐπὶ κλίνης ὀδύνης αὐτοῦ ὅλην τὴν κοίτην αὐτοῦ ἔστρεψας ἐν τῇ ἀρρωστίᾳ αὐτοῦ 2 Blessed is that man who takes thought for the poor and the destitute; the Lord will keep him safe in time of trouble. 3 The Lord will watch over him, and give him long life and happiness on earth, and baulk his enemies of their will. 4 The Lord will sustain him when he lies bed-ridden, turn all to health in his sickness. 2 Beatus qui intelligit super egenum et pauperem:
in die mala liberabit eum Dominus.
3
Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum,
et beatum faciat eum in terra,
et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum ejus.
4
Dominus opem ferat illi super lectum doloris ejus;
universum stratum ejus versasti in infirmitate ejus.
5 ἐγὼ εἶπα κύριε ἐλέησόν με ἴασαι τὴν ψυχήν μου ὅτι ἥμαρτόν σοι 6 οἱ ἐχθροί μου εἶπαν κακά μοι πότε ἀποθανεῖται καὶ ἀπολεῖται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ 7 καὶ εἰ εἰσεπορεύετο τοῦ ἰδεῖν μάτην ἐλάλει ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ συνήγαγεν ἀνομίαν ἑαυτῷ ἐξεπορεύετο ἔξω καὶ ἐλάλει 8 ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ κα{T'} ἐμοῦ ἐψιθύριζον πάντες οἱ ἐχθροί μου κα{T'} ἐμοῦ ἐλογίζοντο κακά μοι 9 λόγον παράνομον κατέθεντο κα{T'} ἐμοῦ μὴ ὁ κοιμώμενος οὐχὶ προσθήσει τοῦ ἀναστῆναι 10 καὶ γὰρ ὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς εἰρήνης μου ἐ{F'} ὃν ἤλπισα ὁ ἐσθίων ἄρτους μου ἐμεγάλυνεν ἐ{P'} ἐμὲ πτερνισμόν 11 σὺ δέ κύριε ἐλέησόν με καὶ ἀνάστησόν με καὶ ἀνταποδώσω αὐτοῖς 12 ἐν τούτῳ ἔγνων ὅτι τεθέληκάς με ὅτι οὐ μὴ ἐπιχαρῇ ὁ ἐχθρός μου ἐ{P'} ἐμέ 13 ἐμοῦ δὲ διὰ τὴν ἀκακίαν ἀντελάβου καὶ ἐβεβαίωσάς με ἐνώπιόν σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα 5 Lord have mercy on me, is my prayer; bring healing to a soul that has sinned against thee. 6 Bitterly my enemies taunt me; How long, they ask, ere he will die, and his name be forgotten? 7 When one comes to visit me, he comes with smooth words, his heart full of malice, ready to go out and plot against me. 8 There they stand, my enemies, talking of me in whispers, devising hurt; 9 Here is a foul plague loosed on him; he will leave his bed no more. 10 Why, the very man I trusted most, my own intimate friend, who shared my bread, has lifted his heel to trip me up.[1] 11 Lord, have mercy on me; give me back health, and let me requite them! 12 Proof of thy favour, my enemies are baulked of their triumph; 13 thou dost befriend my innocence; nevermore wilt thou banish me from thy presence. 5
Ego dixi: Domine, miserere mei;
sana animam meam, quia peccavi tibi.
6
Inimici mei dixerunt mala mihi:
Quando morietur, et peribit nomen ejus?
7
Et si ingrediebatur ut videret, vana loquebatur;
cor ejus congregavit iniquitatem sibi.
Egrediebatur foras et loquebatur.
8
In idipsum adversum me susurrabant omnes inimici mei;
adversum me cogitabant mala mihi.
9
Verbum iniquum constituerunt adversum me:
Numquid qui dormit non adjiciet ut resurgat?
10
Etenim homo pacis meæ in quo speravi,
qui edebat panes meos,
magnificavit super me supplantationem.
11
Tu autem, Domine, miserere mei,
et resuscita me; et retribuam eis.
12
In hoc cognovi quoniam voluisti me,
quoniam non gaudebit inimicus meus super me.
13
Me autem propter innocentiam suscepisti;
et confirmasti me in conspectu tuo in æternum.
14 εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα γένοιτο γένοιτο 14 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, from the beginning to the end of time, Amen, Amen. 14
Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël
a sæculo et usque in sæculum. Fiat, fiat.
