Melody: Do not destroy. Of David. A miktam. When he took refuge from Saul in a cave.) In finem, ne disperdas. David in tituli inscriptionem, cum fugeret a facie Saul in speluncam.
2 ἐλέησόν με ὁ θεός ἐλέησόν με ὅτι ἐπὶ σοὶ πέποιθεν ἡ ψυχή μου καὶ ἐν τῇ σκιᾷ τῶν πτερύγων σου ἐλπιῶ ἕως οὗ παρέλθῃ ἡ ἀνομία 3 κεκράξομαι πρὸς τὸν θεὸν τὸν ὕψιστον τὸν θεὸν τὸν εὐεργετήσαντά με 4 ἐξαπέστειλεν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἔσωσέν με ἔδωκεν εἰς ὄνειδος τοὺς καταπατοῦντάς με διάψαλμα ἐξαπέστειλεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν ἀλήθειαν αὐτοῦ 5 καὶ ἐρρύσατο τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ μέσου σκύμνων ἐκοιμήθην τεταραγμένος υἱοὶ ἀνθρώπων οἱ ὀδόντες αὐτῶν ὅπλον καὶ βέλη καὶ ἡ γλῶσσα αὐτῶν μάχαιρα ὀξεῖα 6 ὑψώθητι ἐπὶ τοὺς οὐρανούς ὁ θεός καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἡ δόξα σου 7 παγίδα ἡτοίμασαν τοῖς ποσίν μου καὶ κατέκαμψαν τὴν ψυχήν μου ὤρυξαν πρὸ προσώπου μου βόθρον καὶ ἐνέπεσαν εἰς αὐτόν διάψαλμα 8 ἑτοίμη ἡ καρδία μου ὁ θεός ἑτοίμη ἡ καρδία μου ᾄσομαι καὶ ψαλῶ 9 ἐξεγέρθητι ἡ δόξα μου ἐξεγέρθητι ψαλτήριον καὶ κιθάρα ἐξεγερθήσομαι ὄρθρου 10 ἐξομολογήσομαί σοι ἐν λαοῖς κύριε ψαλῶ σοι ἐν ἔθνεσιν 11 ὅτι ἐμεγαλύνθη ἕως τῶν οὐρανῶν τὸ ἔλεός σου καὶ ἕως τῶν νεφελῶν ἡ ἀλήθειά σου 12 ὑψώθητι ἐπὶ τοὺς οὐρανούς ὁ θεός καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἡ δόξα σου 2 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me; here is a soul that puts its trust in thee, I will take refuge under the shelter of thy wings, till the storms pass by. 3 I will cry out to the most high God, the God who has ever befriended me: 4 may he send aid now from heaven to deliver me, and bring confusion on my oppressors; his mercy, his faithfulness be my speed! 5 Fallen among lions I, that hungrily eat men’s flesh; here are envious teeth that bite deeper than spear or arrow, tongues sharp as any sword. 6 O God, mount high above the heavens, till thy glory overshadows the whole earth. 7 See where they have laid a snare for my feet, to bring me low, dug a pit in my path; may it be their own undoing! 8 A true heart, my God, a heart true to thy service; its song, its music are for thee! 9 Wake, my soul, wake, echoes of harp and viol; dawn shall find me watching; 10 so will I give thee thanks, Lord, for all the world to hear it, sing psalms while the Gentiles listen, 11 of thy mercy, high as heaven itself, of thy faithfulness, that reaches to the clouds. 12 O God, mount high above the heavens, till thy glory overshadows the whole earth. 2 Miserere mei, Deus, miserere mei,
quoniam in te confidit anima mea.
Et in umbra alarum tuarum sperabo,
donec transeat iniquitas.
3
Clamabo ad Deum altissimum,
Deum qui benefecit mihi.
4
Misit de cælo, et liberavit me;
dedit in opprobrium conculcantes me.
Misit Deus misericordiam suam et veritatem suam,
5
et eripuit animam meam de medio catulorum leonum.
Dormivi conturbatus.
Filii hominum dentes eorum arma et sagittæ,
et lingua eorum gladius acutus.
6
Exaltare super cælos, Deus,
et in omnem terram gloria tua.
7
Laqueum paraverunt pedibus meis,
et incurvaverunt animam meam.
Foderunt ante faciem meam foveam,
et inciderunt in eam.
8
Paratum cor meum, Deus, paratum cor meum;
cantabo, et psalmum dicam.
9
Exsurge, gloria mea;
exsurge, psalterium et cithara:
exsurgam diluculo.
10
Confitebor tibi in populis, Domine,
et psalmum dicam tibi in gentibus:
11
quoniam magnificata est usque ad cælos misericordia tua,
et usque ad nubes veritas tua.
12
Exaltare super cælos, Deus,
et super omnem terram gloria tua.
