(A psalm. Of David.) | Psalmus David, quando persequebatur eum Absalom filius ejus. |
1 ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυιδ ὅτε αὐτὸν ὁ υἱὸς καταδιώκει κύριε εἰσάκουσον τῆς προσευχῆς μου ἐνώτισαι τὴν δέησίν μου ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ σου ἐπάκουσόν μου ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου 2 καὶ μὴ εἰσέλθῃς εἰς κρίσιν μετὰ τοῦ δούλου σου ὅτι οὐ δικαιωθήσεται ἐνώπιόν σου πᾶς ζῶν 3 ὅτι κατεδίωξεν ὁ ἐχθρὸς τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐταπείνωσεν εἰς γῆν τὴν ζωήν μου ἐκάθισέν με ἐν σκοτεινοῖς ὡς νεκροὺς αἰῶνος 4 καὶ ἠκηδίασεν ἐ{P'} ἐμὲ τὸ πνεῦμά μου ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐταράχθη ἡ καρδία μου 5 ἐμνήσθην ἡμερῶν ἀρχαίων καὶ ἐμελέτησα ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις σου ἐν ποιήμασιν τῶν χειρῶν σου ἐμελέτων 6 διεπέτασα τὰς χεῖράς μου πρὸς σέ ἡ ψυχή μου ὡς γῆ ἄνυδρός σοι διάψαλμα | 1 Listen, Lord, to my prayer; give my plea a hearing, as thou art ever faithful; listen, thou who lovest the right. 2 Do not call thy servant to account; what man is there living that can stand guiltless in thy presence? 3 See how my enemies plot against my life, how they have abased me in the dust, set me down in dark places, like the long-forgotten dead! 4 My spirits are crushed within me, my heart is cowed. 5 And my mind goes back to past days; I think of all thou didst once, dwell on the proofs thou gavest of thy power. 6 To thee I spread out my hands in prayer, for thee my soul thirsts, like a land parched with drought. | 1 Domine, exaudi orationem meam; auribus percipe obsecrationem meam in veritate tua; exaudi me in tua justitia. 3 Quia persecutus est inimicus animam meam; humiliavit in terra vitam meam; collocavit me in obscuris, sicut mortuos sæculi. 4 Et anxiatus est super me spiritus meus; in me turbatum est cor meum. 5 Memor fui dierum antiquorum; meditatus sum in omnibus operibus tuis: in factis manuum tuarum meditabar. 6 Expandi manus meas ad te; anima mea sicut terra sine aqua tibi. |
Do not turn thy face away from me, and leave me like one sunk in the abyss. 8 Speedily let me win thy mercy, my hope is in thee; to thee I lift up my heart, shew me the path I must follow; 9 to thee I fly for refuge, deliver me, Lord, from my enemies. 10 Thou art my God, teach me to do thy will; let thy gracious spirit lead me, safe ground under my feet. 11 For the honour of thy own name, Lord, grant me life; in thy mercy rescue me from my cruel affliction. 12 Have pity on me, and scatter my enemies; thy servant I; make an end of my cruel persecutors. | 7 Velociter exaudi me, Domine; defecit spiritus meus. Non avertas faciem tuam a me, et similis ero descendentibus in lacum. 8 Auditam fac mihi mane misericordiam tuam, quia in te speravi. Notam fac mihi viam in qua ambulem, quia ad te levavi animam meam. 9 Eripe me de inimicis meis, Domine: ad te confugi. 10 Doce me facere voluntatem tuam, quia Deus meus es tu. Spiritus tuus bonus deducet me in terram rectam. 11 Propter nomen tuum, Domine, vivificabis me: in æquitate tua, educes de tribulatione animam meam, 12 et in misericordia tua disperdes inimicos meos, et perdes omnes qui tribulant animam meam, quoniam ego servus tuus sum. |
