(Praises. Of David.) | Laudatio ipsi David. |
1 αἴνεσις τῷ Δαυιδ ὑψώσω σε ὁ θεός μου ὁ βασιλεύς μου καὶ εὐλογήσω τὸ ὄνομά σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος 2 κα{Q'} ἑκάστην ἡμέραν εὐλογήσω σε καὶ αἰνέσω τὸ ὄνομά σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος 3 μέγας κύριος καὶ αἰνετὸς σφόδρα καὶ τῆς μεγαλωσύνης αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἔστιν πέρας 4 γενεὰ καὶ γενεὰ ἐπαινέσει τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ τὴν δύναμίν σου ἀπαγγελοῦσιν 5 τὴν μεγαλοπρέπειαν τῆς δόξης τῆς ἁγιωσύνης σου λαλήσουσιν καὶ τὰ θαυμάσιά σου διηγήσονται 6 καὶ τὴν δύναμιν τῶν φοβερῶν σου ἐροῦσιν καὶ τὴν μεγαλωσύνην σου διηγήσονται 7 μνήμην τοῦ πλήθους τῆς χρηστότητός σου ἐξερεύξονται καὶ τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου ἀγαλλιάσονται 8 οἰκτίρμων καὶ ἐλεήμων ὁ κύριος μακρόθυμος καὶ πολυέλεος 9 χρηστὸς κύριος τοῖς σύμπασιν καὶ οἱ οἰκτιρμοὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ | 1 And shall I not extol thee, my God, my king; shall I not bless thy name for ever and for evermore? 2 Blessing shall be thine, day after day; for ever and for evermore praised be thy name. 3 Can any praise be worthy of the Lord’s majesty, any thought set limits to his greatness? 4 Down the ages the story of thy deeds is told, thy power is ever acclaimed; 5 each magnifies thy unapproachable glory, makes known thy wonders. 6 Fearful are the tales they tell of thy power, proclaiming thy magnificence; 7 grateful their memory of all thy goodness, as they boast of thy just dealings. 8 How gracious the Lord is, how merciful, how patient, how rich in pity! 9 Is he not a loving Lord to his whole creation; does not his mercy reach out to all that he has made? |
10 ἐξομολογησάσθωσάν σοι κύριε πάντα τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ οἱ ὅσιοί σου εὐλογησάτωσάν σε 11 δόξαν τῆς βασιλείας σου ἐροῦσιν καὶ τὴν δυναστείαν σου λαλήσουσιν 12 τοῦ γνωρίσαι τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων τὴν δυναστείαν σου καὶ τὴν δόξαν τῆς μεγαλοπρεπείας τῆς βασιλείας σου 13 ἡ βασιλεία σου βασιλεία πάντων τῶν αἰώνων καὶ ἡ δεσποτεία σου ἐν πάσῃ γενεᾷ καὶ γενεᾷ πιστὸς κύριος ἐν τοῖς λόγοις αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅσιος ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις αὐτοῦ 14 ὑποστηρίζει κύριος πάντας τοὺς καταπίπτοντας καὶ ἀνορθοῖ πάντας τοὺς κατερραγμένους | 10 Joining, then, Lord, in thy whole creation’s praise, let thy faithful servants bless thee; 11 let them publish the glory of thy kingdom, and discourse of thy power, 12 making that power known to the race of men, the glory, the splendour of that kingdom! 13 No age shall dawn but shall see thee reigning still; generations pass, and thy rule shall endure. O how true the Lord is to all his promises, how gracious in all his dealings! 14 Prostrate though men may fall, the Lord will lift them up, will revive their crushed spirits. |
15 οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ πάντων εἰς σὲ ἐλπίζουσιν καὶ σὺ δίδως τὴν τροφὴν αὐτῶν ἐν εὐκαιρίᾳ 16 ἀνοίγεις σὺ τὴν χεῖρά σου καὶ ἐμπιπλᾷς πᾶν ζῷον εὐδοκίας 17 δίκαιος κύριος ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ ὅσιος ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔργοις αὐτοῦ 18 ἐγγὺς κύριος πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐπικαλουμένοις αὐτόν πᾶσι τοῖς ἐπικαλουμένοις αὐτὸν ἐν ἀληθείᾳ 19 θέλημα τῶν φοβουμένων αὐτὸν ποιήσει καὶ τῆς δεήσεως αὐτῶν ἐπακούσεται καὶ σώσει αὐτούς 20 φυλάσσει κύριος πάντας τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας αὐτὸν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἁμαρτωλοὺς ἐξολεθρεύσει 21 αἴνεσιν κυρίου λαλήσει τὸ στόμα μου καὶ εὐλογείτω πᾶσα σὰρξ τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος | 15 Quietly, Lord, thy creatures raise their eyes to thee, and thou grantest them, in due time, their nourishment, 16 ready to open thy hand, and fill with thy blessing all that lives. 17 So faithful the Lord is in all he does, so gracious in all his dealings. 18 The Lord draws near to every man that calls upon him, will he but call upon him with a true heart. 19 Utter but the wish, you that fear the Lord, and he will grant it, will hear the cry, and bring aid. 20 Vigilantly the Lord watches over all that love him, marks down the wicked for destruction. 21 While these lips tell of the Lord’s praise, let all that lives bless his holy name, for ever, and for evermore. | 15 Oculi omnium in te sperant, Domine, et tu das escam illorum in tempore opportuno. 16 Aperis tu manum tuam, et imples omne animal benedictione. 17 Justus Dominus in omnibus viis suis, et sanctus in omnibus operibus suis. 18 Prope est Dominus omnibus invocantibus eum, omnibus invocantibus eum in veritate. 19 Voluntatem timentium se faciet, et deprecationem eorum exaudiet, et salvos faciet eos. 20 Custodit Dominus omnes diligentes se, et omnes peccatores disperdet. 21 Laudationem Domini loquetur os meum; et benedicat omnis caro nomini sancto ejus in sæculum, et in sæculum sæculi. |
